Each week authors from all over and writing in all genres bring you snippets from their work. It could be a work in progress or a completed piece. It could be published or not. But it’s only 8 sentences.
Visit the previous snippet if you desire. This is from one of my current projects – A Legacy of Lies. Jacob is trying to find his missing sister. Elissa, Julia’s best friend, is following Jacob, to help him. Jacob doesn’t want Elissa’s help because he knows it may be dangerous and doesn’t want her to get hurt. Of course, he hasn’t told her this, he simply told her to stay put. She doesn’t listen so well.
Last week, we were in Jacob’s POV. He’d stopped for gas, a quick snack and was on his way back to his Jeep when he realized a small group of people are near his vehicle. Now we are switching to Elissa’s POV.
His Jeep sat in the lot, but he was nowhere in sight. If she went searching, she may miss him and then she’d be screwed. She scurried over to the dark blue vehicle, rushed around to the passenger’s door and tested the look.
“Hey there, sweetheart.”
She spun around, instinct pressing her back tight to the hot steel, the door handle digging into her kidney. In front of her two men inched closer, their eyes cold, their clothes dirty and disheveled, the odor wafting off them assaulting her nose, almost choking her. The bald one sported half sleeve tattoos, while the other looked like he’d lost his razor months ago. A third, younger man kept his distance, appearing more skittish as his gaze skated around, his fingers twitching against his thighs.
Hope you’re enjoying the summer!
