Each week authors from all over and writing in all genres bring you snippets from their work. It could be a work in progress or a completed piece. It could be published or not. But it’s only 8 sentences.
I’ve missed the last few week due to summer vacation and then preparing for back to school for my kids, but now I’m back and ready to dive into things again. Besides, summer’s over :( .
To catch up, please visit the previous snippet if you desire.
This is from one of my current projects - A Legacy of Lies. Jacob is trying to find his missing sister, Julia. Her best friend, Elissa, wants to help him. Jacob doesn’t want Elissa’s help because he knows it may be dangerous and doesn’t want her to get hurt. Of course, he hasn’t told her this, he simply told her to stay put. She doesn’t listen so well.
Last time, we were in Elissa’s POV, and we still are. She’s caught up with Jacob, but while she’s waiting for him to discover her uninvited appearance, she’s attracted some unwelcome company. The next snippet is following their arrival.
“Leave me alone.” She realized with the jeep at her back, the trees in front of her, and her would-be attackers in between, she had nowhere to go, and no direct line of sight to the bus, or to Jacob. She tensed, her inner self shifted but otherwise didn’t appear concerned. “I have nothing you want.”
“Oh, I don’t know about that, honey.” Baldy’s leering gaze travelled up and down her body, leaving a film of disgust in its wake. She’d need a shower after this was over. “You have lots we want, but we’ll start with whatever cash you have in your purse, and negotiate from there.”
Hope you’re enjoying the summer!
