Each week authors from all over and writing in all genres bring you snippets from their work. It could be a work in progress or a completed piece. It could be published or not. But it’s only 8 sentences.
To catch up, please visit the previous snippet if you desire.
This is from one of my current projects - A Legacy of Lies. Jacob is trying to find his missing sister, Julia, and her best friend, Elissa, wants to help him. Jacob doesn’t want Elissa’s help because he knows it may be dangerous and doesn’t want her to get hurt. Of course, he hasn’t told her any of this, he simply told her to stay put with her parents. She doesn’t listen so well.
We are still in Elissa’s POV. She’s facing off with the nice gentlemen who have cornered her near Jacob’s vehicle. The next snippet continues from last week’s after she told them she wasn’t giving them anything, and she’s in no mood to negotiate.
Mr. I-probably-have-lice-in-this-beard narrowed his eyes. “It wasn’t a request.”
She couldn’t gauge his age, but he sounded as though he’d been a heavy smoker for years, where Baldy, on the other hand, looked like he spent time in a gym, or perhaps a prison.
A high-pitched whistle sounded, followed by the blast of an air-horn, the horn on the bus. Crap, she had five minutes before the bus pulled out, leaving her stranded if Jacob didn’t take her with him. And she wasn’t too fond of her current hosts. Where the hell was Jacob anyway? How long did it take to grab a coffee and take a leak?
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
