Each week authors from all over and writing in all genres bring you snippets from their work. It could be a work in progress or a completed piece. It could be published or not. But it’s only 8 sentences.
To catch up, please visit the previous snippet if you desire.
This is from one of my current projects - A Legacy of Lies. Jacob is trying to find his missing sister, Julia, and her best friend, Elissa, wants to help him.
I promised to switch to Jacob’s POV for this week, so I’ve actually skipped ahead a wee bit from last week. Can’t give away all the secrets! :) Jacob has manage to scare off Elissa’s admirers. Let’s just say they ran for their lives. ;) Now, he’s pissed and ready to send her packing. As always, this is rough draft and unedited!
“Christ, your parents must be frantic.”
“They know where I am—at least my mom does.”
“Well, you can just head straight on back.”
She cocked her head, staring him down when he threw his hand up, palm out to stop the imminent refusal he sensed on the tip of her tongue, but the glint of satisfaction in her eyes turned the rage still racing through his system into dread. “I can’t.”
He dropped his arm and glared at her. “And why’s that?”
“The bus is gone.”
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
