Each week authors from all over and writing in all genres bring you snippets from their work. It could be a work in progress or a completed piece. It could be published or not. But it’s only 8 sentences.
I’m continuing from one of my current projects - A Legacy of Lies. This is book 2 in a series I’m working on. Jacob, the hero, is trying to find his missing sister, Julia, and her best friend, Elissa, the heroine, is determined to help him.
Last week, they finally hit the road, though Jacob’s libido is urging him to pull over. This next eight follows the previous eight.
We are still in his POV, starting with Elissa. She asked him why he was so angry. Very rough draft , unedited, and some creative editing to make this work.
“Then tell me why you have such a problem with me being here and helping you.”
If she didn’t know, maybe he could simply ignore it and it would go away—one could always hope. He’d hoped for a lot of things over his relative short lifetime, none of which came to fruition, but there always a first time, wasn’t there? Even for someone like him?
He cell rang and he reached for it, hit the talk button and pressed it to his ear. “Hello?”
Jacob slammed his foot on the brake, gripping the wheel with one hand, swerving over to the side of the road, while flinging the other arm—the one holding the phone, his lifeline to his sister—out to the side to prevent Elissa from being thrown forward toward the dashboard.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
