Reading Resolutions Blog Hop

NY REsolutions

It’s the 2014 Reading Resolutions Blog Hop, hosted by Rachel Firasek.

Lots of prizes.

Date: Jan 5-12, 2014

Tons of author ebook, swag, and GC giveaways.

The purpose of this particular hop is to highlight the three to five books that we read and loved during 2013 and then to (try) and identify our reading goal for 2014.

I won’t even tell you the average number of books I read per year.  Let’s just say, my family knows I can’t just peek into a bookstore for a few minutes, or that I can’t drive by one without stopping.  And my side of the room looks like a book store thanks to the TBR and already read piles.  Thank God for electronic readers (they hide the true volume :) )

So, first, my 3-5.  That’s a tough one, because I read a lot of fantastic books this year.  There’s just no way I can name the top 5 or even 10 for that matter.  So I’ve picked the ones that immediately jump to mind.  These are a few of those books that hooked me from the beginning, and everything else was put to the back burner until I finished them.

Drowning, by Rachel Firasek, because I just felt for both these characters.  See my review.

Symphony of Light and Winter by Renea Mason, because this isn’t your normal paranormal.  See my review.

The Unraveling of Lady Fury by Shehanne Moore, because Flint is one hell of a sexy pirate.  And he cooks.

All Fired Up by Nikki Dee Houston, just because I love hot firemen.  And this book sizzles  ;)

Claimed – Club Sin by Stacey Kennedy, because I loved the writing of this BDSM story. It’s the first in this series and I can’t wait for book two which is coming in February.

Resolution Time!  What is my reading goal for 2014?  Well, I would have to say, I actually want to scale back on the amount of reading I do.  I devour books, and if I want to write more, I need to spend less time reading. So, I’m actually going to (try) to limit myself to one book per week – that’s 52.  Oh, but then, do vacations count? And what about if I’m sick? Or just need a ‘me’ day?  Crap, there’s no way I can stick to so few.  So, I’m going to say…75.  My TBR pile will grow by leaps and bounds, but I’m going to limit my reading time so I read less books and write more books.  :) At least that’s the plan!

So, how many books do you plan to read?  Got any favorites you’re looking forward to?

And the best part of this  hop?

So I’m finally coming up out of the trenches of copy edits. You guys are the awesome authors. I just read the words you put on paper. :)

And you know, I just had a revelation. The reason I spend less time writing and more time reading is because of you find ladies. It’s all your fault. So there, my problem is solved. You need to stop write such fabulous books. :)

That is my plan as well – read less so I can write more. Or rather, revise more. ;) But then, I never really set myself huge reading goals. I love reading, but I have too much else to get done to focus too heavily on the reading goal. So my goal for 2014 is a mere 40. :)
