Each week authors from all over and writing in all genres bring you snippets from their work. It could be a work in progress or a completed piece. It could be published or not. But it’s only 8 sentences.
Today, we are back with A Legacy of Lies, one of my many works in progress. The one you’re all familiar with.
Jacob (the hero), is trying to find his missing sister Julia, and her best friend Elissa (the heroine), is determined to help him. You can see my last snippet here.
In the previous snippet, they’d found the hotel empty, a clue was left behind, but now Jacob’s friend Tagg has revealed Julia and her kidnapper are heading towards Mexico. Tagg informed Jacob and Elissa that he’s secured them rooms for the night, but insisted Jacob and Elissa share a room. Jacob wasn’t necessarily pleased with that suggestion. We’re in Jacob’s POV.
“Actually,” Tagg interjected on a serious note, “it’s more about safety. We won’t be in a very nice area, so I don’t think it’s wise that she stay on her own.” Then his lips twitched and his eyes gleamed knowingly. “However, what kind of friend would I be, Jacob, if I didn’t see how much this is a problem for you, and offer to stay with her in your place—in fact, it would be my pleasure.”
“No,” she cried, her eyes round saucers as she stared at Jacob.
“No,” he growled through gritted teeth.
Tagg laughed outright at their combined chorus, and smacked him on the back, pissing Jacob off to point he struggled to keep his claws sheathed.
“Well then, I guess you guys will be roomies for the duration of this little trip.”

I’m looking forward to catching up with everybody. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
