Here is the next snippet from my current wip –  A Legacy of Lies, Book 2 in my Jaguar Legacy Series. Please feel free to check out the  previous snippet.

This is from Elissa’s POV. Jacob has just gotten off the phone with his sister and has swung around to find Elissa still behind him. He’d forgotten she was standing there and overheard his phone call.  Right now he has too much on his mind, the most pressing matter that of finding and saving his sister.

“Take me with you, Jacob.  I can help.”

He snorted. “Help with what?”

“Whatever it is you need to do to save her.”  He opened his mouth but she stepped forward, raising her hand, so close she felt his warm breath touch the pads of her fingers, stopping his next words. “Look, she’s my best friend. You have nobody else.”

Unfortunately, I had to miss last week, but I’m back with another snippet from my current wip –  A Legacy of Lies, Book 2 in my Jaguar Legacy Series. Please feel free to check out the  previous snippet.

This sample is from Elissa’s POV. Jacob has just gotten of the phone with his sister and has swung around to find Elissa behind him. He’d forgotten she was there.

“Elissa, what the hell are you doing out here?” 

Jacob’s eyes narrowed, his nostrils flared. His head tilted as a look of confusion passed over his face, as though some wisp of a thought had entered his mind but drifted away before he could catch it. He shook his head, his brows pulled down in a  frown.  Then he released her and stepped away.  Her skin tingled where he’d touched her.  A sense of wonder flowed through her. How odd.

This is from A Legacy of Lies, Book 2 in my Jaguar Legacy Series.  Previous week’s snippet.

The sample below comes from Elissa, Julia’s best friend and it would appear,  Jacob’s shadow.

She watched as Jacob’s body tensed, knowing he wanted to vent. But, broken bones was the last thing he needed right now. If her instincts were correct, and they generally were, he would be hitting the road again soon.  As in, as soon as he ended the call.

How could she get him to take her with him?  He wouldn’t appreciate a tag-along, but she had no plans to let him head out on his own again. The man had been alone far too long in his life. She didn’t want him to be alone anymore.

This is from A Legacy of Lies, Book 2 in my Jaguar Legacy Series.   So this week I promised to introduce you to Elissa. Up till now you’ve met Jacob who’s trying to locate his missing sister. She’s in trouble, and needs his help, but has no idea where she is. In order to keep to my promise, I’ve taken a couple of liberties this week. I’ve actually pieced two sections of the scene together to give you the first glimpse at Elissa while trying to keep to the 8 sentences (well, I took another liberty here and gave you 9 so I’d finish out the scene).

Jacob is frustrated because he can’t immediately fix the problem.  What you don’t see here is her telling him what she believes is happening (sorry, I’ve skipped that part – can’t give away all the secrets ). In the first piece, he’s actually still on the phone with Julia.

Somebody reached up and grabbed his arm. He jerked around to see who had stopped him from breaking his hand against the brick wall. Large, dark chocolate eyes in a round olive-tone face, framed by straight dark hair peered up at him. At five feet nothing, Elissa Amaro, his sister’s best friend, held his large fist in her tiny hand. She shook her head.

… (a few minutes later, he’s now off the phone)

“Jacob, where’s Julia? What’s wrong?”

“Nothing I can’t fix.”

“But where is she?”

Jacob took a deep breath, clenching his fists tight with the need to hit something. “With our father.”
